The National Association of Students With A Purpose (NASWAP) is a non-profit that empowers underrepresented, interdisciplinary college students to become socially conscious leaders and entrepreneurs. NASWAP’s mission is to foster a community of purpose-driven, underrepresented, interdisciplinary students who are committed to further developing and using their talents and passions to make a meaningful impact on the world while forging a path to the future they envision for themselves past graduation. The organization provides research opportunities, mentorship, resources, and opportunities for student-led service-learning community projects to interdisciplinary, underrepresented college students, as well as promotes social consciousness and leadership, facilitates networking opportunities, and supports academic and professional success.

VALUES

Empowerment

We empower underrepresented, interdisciplinary college students to become socially conscious leaders and entrepreneurs, by providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities for civic engagement.

Community

We foster a community of purpose-driven, underrepresented, interdisciplinary students who are committed to making a meaningful impact on the world while forging a path to the future they envision for themselves past graduation.

Support

We support academic and professional success for underrepresented college students by providing professional development opportunities, global networking, post-graduate internships, business opportunities, and mentorship research opportunities to help them transition from student to professional.

Equity

We strive to close the gap created by systemic barriers by providing support and resources to underrepresented, interdisciplinary students through university memberships and corporate sponsors, and by offering all the necessary resources for programming and growth to support the colleges in aiding the student organizations from student to professional to mentor.

Impact

We aim to develop the skills,

knowledge, and networks necessary for members to create positive social change in their communities and beyond while becoming fiscally responsible leaders in their communities, stepping out of intergenerational poverty.

Service

We believe in the value of interdisciplinary service-learning research projects as a tool for improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enhancing academic performance, promoting civic engagement, and increasing intercultural competence to create diverse, equitable, and inclusive global community valued solutions.
